As with all Planet Bluegrass festivals, kids 12 and under are free -- quite the deal, considering the youngest Festivarians might have the best time of anyone at the Festival.
Bring along the whole family for an unforgettable day or weekend on Planet Bluegrass. Tube the St. Vrain River through Planet Bluegrass. Paint, sculpt and assemble in the arts & crafts tent. Build sand castles on the beach. And join the variety of fun, planet-minded activities throughout the day presented by our family area partners (below) including slacklining, tree climbing, nature studies, a kids music performance, an instrument petting zoo, and much more. Oh, and there's epic music on the main stage, too...
Colorado Mountain Club
Visit the Colorado Mountain Club’s booth by the creek for youth-oriented activities including slack lining, climbing skills, washer toss, and knot tying. Try out our slack line, hula hoops, and balance activities. Practice your knot skills to safely ascend a tree! Try your hand at Mountain Safety washer toss and discover the 10 essentials to help you survive in the Colorado Wilderness. Visit the CMC booth for today’s schedule of activities.
Serving the community since 1912, the Colorado Mountain Club’s programs revolve around education, environmental conservation, and responsible recreation. The CMC’s Youth Education Program (YEP!) promotes active, healthy lifestyle choices for youth and encourages participation in outdoor activities. www.cmc.org
Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center
Stop by Wild Bear's booth and meet the Wild Bear! Learn about the local ecosystem and how we can help the earth! Complete the "Bingo Discovery Game" and come back to the booth for your special prize! Remember, if the bear is sleeping, you should come back at another time! Create an Earth Flag out of natural dyes to take home and make your special wood cookie necklace with your very own nature name!!
Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center is a special nature center located in the mountains of Nederland, Colorado. Open to the public on most days, we offer workshops for people of all ages, including when school is not in session. www.wildbear.org
Instrument Petting Zoo from Swallow Hill Music
Strum, beat, and play your way through the Swallow Hill Music Instrument Petting Zoo! We provide a hands-on a set-up of instruments for kids and adults led by our knowledgeable staff of instrument petting zookeepers. The entire family can try out ukuleles, hand drums, guitars, mandolins, banjos, fiddles, mini-pianos and more. We provide the instruments and you provide the curiosity.
Swallow Hill Music's Instrument Petting Zoo has traveled around Colorado for the past three years, bringing musical fun more than 10,000 people across the state.
