Some Festivarians just can't get enough inspiring, virtuosic music... The Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 21-24) lineup includes nearly thirty acts over four days on the Fred Shellman Memorial Stage in Telluride's Town Park - from Chris Thile's opening set on Thursday morning to the Sunday night closing performance from Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas.
Yet, as the moon rises and the temperatures drop each night the music doesn't have to stop: it just moves inside to intimate venues around Telluride and Mountain Village. This year's NightGrass schedule includes shows at four venues, including the historic Sheridan Opera House and this year's new addition, Las Montanas.
NightGrass 2007 gets underway on Wednesday, June 20 with Yonder Mountain String Band's 6th Annual Bluegrass Kick-Off Party at the Telluride Conference Center in Mountain Village. NightGrass shows continue in Telluride for the rest of the weekend - including intimate shows with Chris Thile, John Cowan & Drew Emmitt, Wayword Sons featuring Benny Galloway, Vince Herman & Great American Taxi, the Billy Pilgrims, CX-1, a Friday night opera house show with Yonder Mountain String Band, and much more.
Tickets for these NightGrass shows are completely separate from festival passes. These tickets, including a very limited number of all-venue passes, will go on-sale from shop.bluegrass.com at 8am MDT, Thursday, April 12. These tickets will be sold online-only - we will not be taking any phone orders. Mark your calendar: all-venue passes and some of the individual shows will sell out in the first few hours.
We're still adding a few names to the Telluride Bluegrass main stage lineup. Longtime friend of the Festival, Sarah Jarosz, will be making her main stage debut at this year's Telluride Bluegrass. After being awed by Sarah's singing and playing for several years in Festival tweeners and guest appearances with Tim O'Brien, we decided the time has come to give Sarah the Telluride stage for an entire set. The recent Austin Music Award winner will be joined by special guests Mike Marshall and cellist Ben Sollee for an inspiring Saturday morning set.
And we're still not done with Telluride Bluegrass lineup announcements - we'll have one more special addition in the next few weeks. In the meantime, introduce yourself to the Festivarian family and have all your Festival questions answered over at the Festivarian Forum.
Tickets and camping are still available for the 34th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Order online at shop.bluegrass.com or call us at 800-624-2422. Make history with us this year as we take the next step towards a 100% carbon-neutral event by offsetting all travel emissions to/from Telluride - your carbon-free ride to Telluride.
Finally, we're getting dangerously close to selling out of 3-day passes for this year's RockyGrass (July 27-29). If you've been putting off purchasing a festival pass for our traditional bluegrass festival in Lyons, CO, don't wait more than a couple days or you'll be sorry - as you hear all the stories secondhand from your Festivarian friends a couple weeks later at the Folks Fest.
