Fall Wildflower Concert Series continues this Friday... [ Wildflower image ]

Front CountryAfter a sold-out concert last week, the fall Wildflower Concert Series on Planet Bluegrass continues this Friday (October 21), with the return of San Francisco progressive bluegrassers Front Country with special guests Monocle.

As one of just 3 bands (and the only non-Colorado band) to win both the RockyGrass and Telluride Bluegrass band contests, Front Country is winning fans around Europe and the US with their energetic live show. Led by powerful vocalist Melody Walker (winner of the 2016 IBMA Momentum Award for Vocalist of the Year) and the virtuosic chops of the quintet, Front Country stretches the boundaries of bluegrass (with covers ranging from Don Henley to King Crimson). NPR recently featured the band, praising their "expansive musical ideas, interesting arrangements, and rhythmic shape-shifting.”

MonocleMonocle opens the evening with their own brand of Rocky Mountain indie folk. The Front Range quintet perform original music rooted in the traditions of Telluride bluegrass and the troubadour wanderings that led Townes Van Zandt through the San Juan Mountains on horseback.

Tickets for Friday night are still available, with no service fees of course, at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. As always, parking is free and convenient on the Planet Bluegrass Ranch. We'll begin serving beer, wine, and hot drinks at 7pm; Monocle takes the stage at 8pm.

---Plan to spend a lovely autumn evening in our town of Lyons, starting with dinner at one of our fine local eateries. Our friends at the Ax & Oar tavern taqueria grill are offering a 15% dinner discount on Friday when you mention you're "heading to the Wildflower."

We only have 2 more evenings of bluegrass in the Wildflower Pavilion left this year. Hope you're able to join us in Lyons this fall!
