Two of our favorite young song-driven bluegrass bands in the Wildflower this Friday night... [ Wildflower image ]

This Friday night we welcome two of our favorite young song-driven bluegrass bands for full sets in the Wildflower Pavilion: Michigan quartet Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys and Montana sextet The Lil' Smokies.

Lindsay Lou & the FlatbellysIf one of these videos doesn't make you an instantly smiling Lindsay Lou fan, then here's what a few of their outspoken admirers have to say: "Unique harmonies elevate amazing songs to unexpected heights" (Paul Hoffman of Greensky Bluegrass). "Phrasing, tone, emotion, it's all there. Simply mesmerizing. Riveting!" (David Grier). "The catchy and clever riffs recall the sharp 'popgrass' stylings of groups like the Punch Brothers and Joy Kills Sorrow" (

The Lil' SmokiesLindsay & the Flatbellys become your new favorite band at 8pm (with a full set), followed by the Planet Bluegrass debut of buzzy progressive bluegrassers The Lil' Smokies. Recent IBMA Momentum Award nominees, the six-piece have shared stages with everyone from the Stringdusters to Steep Canyon Rangers to the Sam Bush Band, delivering tightly-arranged originals and hot jams.

Tickets are still available for this fantastic co-bill at or 800-624-2422 (with no service fees, of course). Doors open at 7pm, music starts at 8pm.

Then head over to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch to catch full sets from both of these exciting young bands in our newly rebuilt "cathedral of bluegrass." We'll begin serving drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks) at 7pm. Lindsay Lou takes the stage right at 8pm. This is going to be an exceptional evening of music in the Wildflower. We can't wait to share it with you.
