Bluegrass returns to the Wildflower this Friday night with Town Mountain & MilkDrive... [ Wildflower image ]

Town MountainMusic returns to the indoor Wildflower Pavilion on Planet Bluegrass this Friday night (September 13) in Lyons as we kick-off the 2013 Autumn series with 2 of our favorite young bluegrass bands: hard-drivin' Carolina stringband Town Mountain and the exuberant jazz-grass of MilkDrive.

Bluegrass Today raves about Town Mountain: "This, my friends, is how bluegrass is supposed to sound." Winners of the 2005 RockyGrass band contest, Town Mountain balances slammin’ bluegrass with just just enough outlaw swagger to give it a honky-tonk edge, and just enough contemporary, alt-whatever elements (including covers from Springsteen to Son Volt) to appeal to even non-bluegrass fans, delivered by two distinctive lead vocalists and hot pickin' all-around.

MilkDriveContemporary jazz-grass band MilkDrive takes the Wildflower stage at 8pm. Fueled by sophisticated arrangements, fierce musicianship, pop songwriting, and adventurous improvisation, the Austin, TX quartet has been turning heads at festivals and clubs across the country including Austin City Limits and the 2011 RockyGrass main stage.

Tickets are still available (with no service fees, of course) for this energetic opening night (as well as the rest of the fall series) at, 800-624-2422, or in-person at the door on Friday night.

--- We can't wait to share this opening night of music with you in Lyons -- just 20 minutes north of Boulder. We'll light the bonfire and begin serving drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks) at 7pm. Grab dinner at one of our local restaurants (sushi, contemporary,BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Play a few games of classic pinball. Then head over to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch for a great evening of music in our "cathedral of bluegrass."
