Darrell Scott plays the Wildflower
this Friday, October 10

The summer festivals may be over, but there are some inspiring reasons to come up to the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons this fall: our 2nd Annual Wildflower Concert Series. Tickets will be available at the door for Friday's special evenng with songwriter/virtuoso Darrell Scott (Oct. 10) and the following week with the international roots music sensations The Greencards (Oct. 18). The 300-seat Wildflower Pavilion - with its crystalline acoustics - is a wonderfully unique place to enjoy a show, with beer and wine, after-show bonfires along the St. Vrain River, and views of dramatic cliffs behind the stage. Our scenic ranch is just 20-minutes north of Boulder and parking is free and convenient on the Ranch.

Despite a day and a half of intermittent rain, the 18th Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival ended with triumph after triumph. We curled up with friends under layers of tarps and wool, singing along with some of the world's most important songwriters - Greg Brown, KT Tunstall, Nanci Griffith, Amos Lee, Patty Griffin, Dar Williams, Josh Ritter, Todd Snider, Greg Brown, The Waifs, The Mountain Goats, and many many more. Stories and music were uniquely intertwined all weekend. If you joined us, take a minute to fill-out our online festival survey or share your thoughts on the Festivarian Forum. Then make your plans to join us this in Lyons in the Wildflower Pavilion.

Just a few weeks ago John Cowan was singing in a tent outside our offices; Mike Marshall was talking about diminished chords; Tony Trischka was sharing a story about Ornette Coleman; and "Bill Monroe" was mentioned in nearly every sentence. The 36th Annual RockyGrass was another fascinating weekend of bluegrass. If you joined us, take 5 minutes to share your thoughts in our online survey then join the lively dialog in the Festivarian Forum. And mark your calendar for the 37th RockyGrass - July 24-26, 2009.

In 2007, Governor Bill Ritter, jr. declared June 23 Colorado Bluegrass Day - honoring Planet Bluegrass for "using renewable energy to help protect our environment while producing a world-class festival." This honor reflects our years of leading the way in sustainable festivation and the green festival movement in America. Share your thoughts in our new sustainability blog.
