Festival season is here! Paolo Nutini, Bruce Hornsby & Ricky Skaggs, Yonder Mountain String Band, Sam Bush, Bela Fleck, The Frames, and recent Academy Award Winners the Swell Season (Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova from the movie Once) shared in the musical magic on the Summer Solstice gathering of Festivarian Nation - the 35th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 19-22) under the full moon. The entire festival sold-out, and managed to be the most sustainable Planet Bluegrass festival ever.

In August, we'll plant our chairs in the cooling currents of the St. Vrain River to enjoy our "summit of the song" - the 18th Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (Aug 15-17). With some of the world's most important songwriters - Greg Brown, KT Tunstall, Nanci Griffith, Amos Lee, Patty Griffin, Jakob Dylan, Dar Williams, Josh Ritter, Todd Snider, and many many more - stories and music are uniquely intertwined all weekend; and for the preceding week at our Song School.
If you're still waiting to purchase tickets for for our traditional bluegrass festival, the 36th Annual RockyGrass (July 25-27), you waited too long. The festival is now completely sold-out. Hope you already have your passes to join us in Lyons for Natalie MacMaster; Dan Tyminski Band; Abigail Washburn & Sparrow Quartet featuring Béla Fleck; and many many others. If you missed out on tickets, head on over to our Festivarian Forum to look for some spares or grab one of the few remaining spots in the RockyGrass Academy.
Last year Governor Bill Ritter, jr. declared June 23 Colorado Bluegrass Day - honoring Planet Bluegrass for "using renewable energy to help protect our environment while producing a world-class festival." This honor reflects our years of leading the way in sustainable festivation and the green festival movement in America. Share your thoughts in our new sustainability blog.
