2017 RockyGrass Camping

On-site campsite at RockyGrass
On-site campground at RockyGrass

If you missed out on camping passes for the 45th Annual RockyGrass Festival (July 28-30, 2017) check out the Ticket Exchange / Swap at Festivarian.com. Please be cautious and use common sense when purchasing tickets from a 3rd party that you don't know -- especially on craigslist.

RockyGrass is widely known as a "picker's festival." And that pickin' happens in the campgrounds -- late-night intimate jams where the pros and the hot-shot Festivarians trade songs and hot licks. Though the music on the main stage continues to blow our mind every single year, for many Festivarians the campground scene is the RockyGrass experience. With more than half of the RockyGrass Festivarians camping in Lyons during the festival, learn more about the campgrounds we're again offering in 2017.

Once you have your camping passes, be sure to start thinking about our green campsite challenge.

Planet Bluegrass Campgrounds

On-Site campground
On-Site Campground
Includes a 3-day pass
  • Location: On the Planet Bluegrass Ranch - fields on both the north (tents only) and south sides (tents and vehicles) of the Festival grounds
  • Vehicles: If you need to camp next to your vehicle, a very limited number of vehicles passes will be sold for the south part of the on-site campground. Vehicles must be less than 21' in length. (If you do not need your vehicle at your campsite, general festival parking is available nearby for a nominal fee.)
  • Opens: 6pm on Thursday, July 27 (Prior to opening the gates, vehicles should line up at Bohn Park.)
  • Closes: noon on Monday, July 31
  • Camping Passes: Sold-out via online lottery open from November 16-27
Saunter back and forth from the Festival to your campsite throughout the day. With easy access to the Planet Bluegrass bathhouse and showers, lots of shady trees, the St. Vrain River never more than a few feet away, and the ability to hear the festival from most campsites, on-site camping has become an extremely popular (and coveted) ticket. And that doesn't even begin to consider the world-renowned late night jamming that takes place late into the night throughout this campground.Top

Camping in this area will be available first-come, first-served. Space in the 'family camping area' is limited and not guaranteed with purchase of a River Bend camping pass.

After the rave reviews for this new festival campground, we're excited to offer camping at this special property again in 2017 (for RockyGrass only). Located directly across the street from Planet Bluegrass, this gorgeous wooded campground under the St. Vrain cliffs provides soft new grass for tent camping and easy river access on the stretch between Planet Bluegrass and Meadow Park. Flood Reconstruction Update: The Town of Lyons has completed flood reconstruction work in Meadow Park. The park officially reopened to the public in September 2016.

Located just down river from Planet Bluegrass (an easy 5-minute walk), Meadow Park is a beautiful park under towering rock cliffs, owned and maintained by the Town of Lyons. As with all the RockyGrass campgrounds, jam circles are plentiful. Prior to the 2013 flood, Meadow Park provided shady campsites next to the river, as well as open camping in the field areas, and river access and tubing along the perimeter of the park. Top
Bohn Campground
Bohn Campground
Requires a 3-day or single-day festival pass
  • Location: 3/4 mile from the festival grounds; an easy 10-minute walk to the festival or a free shuttle is also available
  • Vehicles: Vehicle passes and RV passes are available for Bohn Park. (If you do not intend to camp in your vehicle, inexpensive festival parking is available in the separate "parking area" of Bohn Park for a very nominal fee.)
  • Tent Camping. Tent camping is allowed with a Bohn Park camping pass. But with the increased tent camping capacity at Meadow Park and River Bend for 2017, we encourage tent campers to consider one of those options before Bohn Park.
  • Opens: 9am on Thursday, July 27
  • Closes: noon on Monday, July 31
  • Camping Passes: $35 Purchase Now
Please note: As Bohn Park post-flood planning and reconstruction remains an active work-in-progress, we do not yet know the status of river access and other Bohn Park facilities for summer 2017.

Located in the wide-open fields of Bohn Park, the Bohn Campground has a dirt jump bike park, the Heil Valley Ranch Picture Rock trail (for hiking and mountain biking), and a bathhouse (no showers). While this campground has very little shade (plan to bring your own), the panoramic views are gorgeous. Prior to the 2013 flood, the Bohn Park campground had easy access to the river (just past the confluence of the North and South St. Vrain Rivers) and a playground.Top
