9:30am – Orientation - Wildflower Pavilion - Be Here Now!
We’ll run through the schedule, cover logistics, answer questions, and prepare you for the week. We’ll also have coffee, tea, water, and muffins out at 8:00 AM each morning to help you start your day. Burritos, OJ and espresso drinks are also available on-site along side the bathhouse.
9:45-10:45am – All Academy Session
Welcome to this all group session. We’ll start off with a couple impromptu songs, hear from instructors on jamming etiquette, take your questions and then witness how the group works up arrangements to a couple more bluegrass classics exploring the instrumentation, the lead and backup parts and lead and harmony vocal arrangements. Then we’ll all learn the vocal parts together and warm up our voices before we head out to play and sing bluegrass. (Wildflower Pavilion)
11:00-12:30pm – Song Sessions, Songwriting, Voice Classes
Now that you’ve learned your vocal parts, in the Song Sessions we’ll add the instrumentation and work up the entire song. These sessions are your chance to dig into the songbook and learn the parts to some classic bluegrass material. We’ll look at both instrumentation and vocal arrangement, and work in big and small ensembles. During these sessions, you will have the opportunity to learn from most of the Academy faculty. We offer three tracks for novice, intermediate and advanced levels. Students signed up for vocals, songwriting and dance with meet with their instructors during this period.
12:30-2:00pm – Lunch Break
2:00-3:45pm – Instrument, Songwriting, Voice Instruction

Each tent classroom is marked with an animal picture and name hanging from the tent. You will meet in the same place for each of these afternoon sessions as well as on Wednesday and Thursday mornings. To give you the widest range of perspectives and approaches to the music, many instructors will be rotating through the different class levels during the week.
4:00-5:00pm – Monday Afternoon Electives
During this time, we’ll explore a variety of topics; many of which we can’t cover during other class times. There will also be additional opportunities to play in an ensemble and get extra instruction on your instrument. You’re free to take part in the electives that interest you. Instrument office hours are offered to continue working on lesson material covered earlier or specific instrument questions. The slow and fast jams will include vocal work in a band setting.
