As the younger generation of Folks festivarians continues to expand, we’ve grown our kids area to include a variety of fun, planet-minded activities throughout the day, including slacklining, nature studies, crafts, face painting, and much more. As with all Planet Bluegrass festivals, kids 12 and under are free - quite the deal, since kids might have the best time of anyone at the festival...

Colorado Mountain Club

Colorado Mountain ClubVisit the Colorado Mountain Club's booth by the creek every hour for youth-oriented demonstrations on slack lining, Leave No Trace demonstrations, mountain safety classes, and knot tying. Try out our slack line, hula hoops, and balance activities. Learn the essentials of planning ahead and preparing to keep yourself safe when you go out to play in your Rocky Mountain backyard! Participate in a gear gathering relay race to prove that your group has what it takes to survive in any condition! Practice tying knots and make a bracelet to keep! Visit the CMC booth for today's schedule of activities.

Serving the community since 1912, the Colorado Mountain Club’s programs revolve around education, environmental conservation, and responsible recreation. The CMC’s Youth Education Program (YEP!) promotes active, healthy lifestyle choices for youth and encourages participation in outdoor activities. www.cmc.org

Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center

Wild Bear Mountain Ecology CenterStop by Wild Bear's booth and meet the Wild Bear! Pick up your Wild Bear Activity Book to use throughout the weekend! Learn about the local ecosystem and how we can help the earth! Complete the "Bingo Discovery Game" and come back to the booth for your special prize! Remember, if the bear is sleeping, you should come back at another time! Create an Earth Flag out of natural dyes to take home and make your special wood cookie necklace with your very own nature name!!

Wild Bear Mountain Ecology Center is a special nature center located in the mountains of Nederland, Colorado. Open to the public on most days, we offer workshops for people of all ages, including when school is not in session. Mark your calendar for the 11th annual Enchanted Forest on Saturday, October 1, noon-5pm. Meet at Wild Bear in downtown Nederland, take the special shuttle up to Mud Lake and receive your tour of the forest where you'll meet 7 native animals (volunteers in outstanding costumes) to learn about their habits and to receive your special gift from nature in your goody bag! www.wildbear.org

Swallow Hill Music Association

Swallow Hill Music AssociationVisit the Swallow Hill booth for hands-on music demonstrations throughout the day. Get up-close with acoustic instruments in the music petting zoo. Record your own song in the mobile recording studio and instantly receive an mp3 of your tracks.
