The journey to the 2015 Planet Bluegrass festival season begins now. Put aside your copy of Forty Years of Festivation for a few minutes, grab your Sam Bush calendar, cue up a song from Bela Fleck & Abigail Washburn's new CD, and draw giant yinjos on these important upcoming Festivarian dates...
Our 2015 festival tickets go onsale the first week in December:
Telluride Bluegrass tickets (onsale December 5 at 9am MST);
RockyGrass tickets (onsale December 3 at 9am MST);
Folks Festival tickets and Song School spaces (onsale December 2 at 9am MST).
We'll again be selling our most in-demand tickets via online lotteries:
Telluride Town Park & Warner Field camping lottery (open now thru November 12);
RockyGrass Academy lottery (open now thru November 12);
RockyGrass onsite camping lottery (open November 17-30).
We're excited to announce the first round of instructors for the 2015 RockyGrass Academy (July 19-23) at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, CO.
This year's faculty includes 3 stellar bands-in-residence: The Infamous Stringdusters, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, and the Kruger Brothers. These bands will be with us all week to teach instrument classes, lead song circles, collaborate on electives, and give us a glimpse into their unique musical processes. Watch for the announcement of the second half of the instructors -- including Kids Camp, songwriting, and vocals -- in the coming days.
We're thrilled that Michael Hornick and his talented team of luthiers will again be offering the instrument building experience, where students build a mandolin, mandola, octave mandolin, or guitar during the Academy week. No prior woodworking experience is needed.
Due to the enormous demand, registration for the RockyGrass Academy is again being conducted using an online lottery. Entries are being accepted now (!!) thru next Wednesday, November 12 at 11:59pm MST. Call up your pickin' buddies and make your plans now for an unforgettable week of bluegrass along the St. Vrain River this July.
Thanks to everyone who has helped spread the word about our limited edition book, Telluride Bluegrass Festival: Forty Years of Festivation. After selling the book at last summer's festivals, we've made the remaining copies available at many fine sellers around Colorado and from Amazon.com. Order a holiday gift for your Festivarian family, add it to your wishlist, or share your thoughts on the book at bit.ly/tbf40bookamzn.
One of the many joys in putting together this book was collecting 40 years of photos from dozens of brilliant photographers. We worked hard to track down and credit each of these photographers, but there were a few we weren't able to properly credit in the initial printing. We've made some additions and corrections to the photo credits page, which you can now download and print to insert into your copy of the book.
Finally, if camping in Town Park or Warner Field is a vital part of your Telluride Bluegrass experience, be sure to call up your campmates and get your entries in for the online lottery. We're accepting entries right now (!!) thru next Wednesday, November 12 at 11:59pm MST.
