At 4pm today the onsite campground opens for our final Planet Bluegrass event of 2014 -- Yonder Mountain's Kinfolk Celebration (September 19-20).
Under the sunny skies of the last full weekend of summer, thousands of Festivarians will make their final 2014 pilgrimage to Planet Bluegrass for 2 glorious days of music from Yonder Mountain String Band and friends. We will dance under the cliffs; we will sing along the St. Vrain; we will celebrate together for one final magical weekend. It's not too late to join us -- tickets and camping are still available at shop.bluegrass.com, 800-624-2422, or at the box office in Lyons.
Yonder Mountain String Band will be performing full shows Friday and Saturday nights with mandolinist Jake Jolliff and fiddler Allie Kral and special guests John Bell of Widespread Panic (Friday night) and Jason Carter and Ronnie McCoury (Saturday night).
Check out the complete main stage schedule, including a rare solo set from John Bell of Widespread Panic, and special sets from Drew Emmitt & Vince Herman (of Leftover Salmon), Travelin' McCourys, Head for the Hills, The Haunted Windchimes, and Gipsy Moon.
Thursday night (tonight!) Adam Aijala & Ben Kaufmann will carry on their 7-year tradition of the acoustic Mabon Concert in the Wildflower Pavilion. Admission to this intimate show is limited to campers in the onsite campground. But fear not: onsite camping is still available at the festival box office in Lyons.
On Friday and Saturday we're opening the grounds at 10am for brunch from several of our local food vendors. Enjoy Bloody Marys, Irish Coffee, and New Belgium beers while playing an assortment of lawn games provided by our friends at New Belgium Brewing. Then we'll clear the grounds an hour before the official gate time to set the stage for epic days of music on the main stage.
In keeping with the Kinfolk Celebration's spirit of community (let us not forget that Yonder raised $60,000 for Planet Bluegrass's flood reconstruction last December), Yonder will be hosting a silent auction to benefit Conscious Alliance's ongoing hunger relief and youth empowerment efforts. Stop by the auction throughout the Celebration to bid on memorabilia from the band, photographs by Brian Spady, limited edition canvases, and other specialty items.
There's still time to gather your Festivarian family for this final Planet Bluegrass celebration of 2014. Single-day tickets, 2-day passes, and camping are still available at the festival box office in Lyons and at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. We can't wait to share this final magical weekend with you in Lyons!
