Howdy Festivarians! It's been awhile since we've thrown our tarp down in your inbox and hung out. So we've got some catching up to do...
How was your winter? Sorry, we can't hear you over the rumble of backhoes, graders, dump trucks, excavators, and the hardest working (7-days-a-week!), most passionate crew on the Planet. Seriously. 7 months ago the Ranch in Lyons endured a 500-year flood, and today rebirth is everywhere—a nearly rebuilt Wildflower Pavilion, beautifully resculpted grounds awaiting sod and seed, and a complete confidence that this will be our best summer ever in Lyons. We get goosebumps envisioning music and Festivarians rising together on the Ranch once again.
Of course, first we'll be sharing a magical summer solstice together in Telluride. And while the 41st Telluride Bluegrass is completely sold-out, your chance to grab tickets for the recently-announced NightGrass series is upon us...
The nights of Telluride Bluegrass may be the shortest of the year, but we're packing them with some of the year's most magical moments: Festivarian-filled gondolas ascending into Mountain Village for Yonder's 13th Annual kick-off; a huge musical birthday cake for Del McCoury's 75th; close-up performances with our favorite songwriters; and epic jam after epic jam. Sorry Mr. Sandman, there's just too much fun to be had. Here's the full 2014 NightGrass schedule:

Due to exploding demand we've sold many of these tickets over the past few years via online lotteries. But after last year's Conference Center show sold-out in under an hour—and with this year's historic demand for all-things Telluride Bluegrass—we've decided to sell *all* NightGrass tickets via a single online lottery.
This online lottery will be open for 3 days, starting right now (!!). Wander over to the lottery page for all the details, then get your entry in by Wednesday, April 16 at 11:59pm MDT. Any NightGrass tickets that are still unsold after this online lottery will be made available on Tuesday, April 22 at 9am MDT at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422.
As your Telluride Bluegrass plans come into clearer view, don't forget that camping is still available at several of our campgrounds. Or check out our lodging page for indoor options in Telluride or Mountain Village.
We'll have more details in May about the free FirstGrass show in Mountain Village, as well as our 40th Anniversary book which will premiere at the festival in June (we're giddy with excitement about it!). In the meantime, have you heard the new Nickel Creek album yet? It's a goodie.
The 24 years of the Folks Festival have been marked by relocations, anniversaries, enduring friendships and unforgettable performances. It's been quite a ride. And yet all these moments are eclipsed by what will transpire this August 15-17, as our town and Festivarian Nation rise from last September's flood to celebrate community, rebirth, and the singular power of music.
We've invited back many of the artists who have defined the Festival: Ani DiFranco (who played the very first Lyons Folks in '94), Greg Brown (who has been known to walk directly from the St. Vrain, fishing pole in hand, onto the stage), Josh Ritter (who grinned his way through his soaks fest debut in '08), Peter Himmelman (whose inspired sets have included 300-person conga lines around the Ranch), Elephant Revival (who tranced their way into our hearts with a ravishing Saturday afternoon set in '12), and Sarah Jarosz (who first knocked us out as an 11-year-old RockyGrass Academy student and has now graced 5 Planet Bluegrass stages).
We also introduce some of the music that has kept us grooving over the past 7 months. Our new friends in Dispatch—a band that has sold-out multiple nights at Madison Square Garden and Red Rocks—will have us singing arm-in-arm as the moon rises over the St. Vrain. Soon-to-be superstars Lake Street Dive have been featured as "Ones to Watch" by Rolling Stone (and floored both David Letterman and Stephen Colbert!). Dublin-born singer Imelda May re-invents high-energy rockabilly thru her filter of Irish soul. And we're just getting started...
Check out the initial lineup and watch for many more major announcements in the coming weeks, leading up to the complete single-day lineup (and the release of single-day tickets). Three-day passes and camping (including the coveted onsite campground) are available now at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422.
