These days of darkness which we've known, will blow away with this new sun and bring unto us gentle tidings of joy, peace, and glimmers of the long summer days to come... For lurking among the Cottonwoods and the stone sculptures of the St. Vrain, we've begun to hear the faint whispers of St. Festivarius -- tales of anniversaries and festivarian journeys, songs and stories, music and mountains, tarps and tickets, summer bliss and savored friendships, and lineups. Yes, this is the email candy your inbox has been craving: the beginning of the 2013 Planet Bluegrass artist announcements... ------------------------------------ *** TELLURIDE BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL *** ------------------------------------ For many across Festivarian Nation, the confluence of 40 years, the solstice, and the full moon has been enough to commit to our annual pilgrimage to 8,750' in Telluride. To that inspirational list we can now add a historic lineup of musicians who will share the Shellman stage this June 20-23 for the grand acoustic adventure that is Telluride Bluegrass... * Sam Bush Band * Jackson Browne * Emmylou Harris & Rodney Crowell * * Telluride House Band featuring Sam, Béla, Jerry, Edgar, Bryan & Stuart * * Yonder Mountain String Band * Feist * Hot Rize * Richard Thompson * * Leftover Salmon * Jerry Douglas Band * Punch Brothers * Tim O'Brien * * Peter Rowan * Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy * Trampled by Turtles * * Sara Watkins * The Infamous Stringdusters * Steep Canyon Rangers * * Sarah Jarosz * Elephant Revival * Lake Street Dive * BlueBilly Grit * * Telluride Troubadour * many more still to be announced... As you've hopefully heard by now, 4-day passes for the 40th Telluride Bluegrass sold-out in less than 4 hours on December 5 (!), followed by Friday and Saturday single-day tickets a few days later. But tickets are still available for Thursday and Sunday as well as camping in 3 of our campgrounds (High School, Lawson Hill, Mary E Ilium) and lodging in Telluride and Mountain Village.. Order yours while you still can at http://shop.bluegrass.com. We'll be sharing several more major lineup additions in the coming weeks. Several of these names we're keeping to ourselves to give Festivarians extra time to grab these last few Thursday and Sunday single-day tickets. For now we can share that the first full moon of summer will rise over iconic singer-songwriter Jackson Browne followed by an epic festival-closing Telluride House Band set. And Thursday's lineup will befit the majesty of that evening's moment of solstice. Watch for more upcoming hints on our Festivarian Forum and Facebook. If you're still searching for your 4-day pass, we're now accepting Telluride volunteer applications. Or post your plea on the Festivarian Forum's "Ticket Exchange" board. As we get close to the March 22 refund deadline we'll release any returned tickets in the "Returned Ticket Resale" section of shop.bluegrass.com. Finally, we're now accepting songwriting submissions for the prestigious Telluride Troubadour contest. Finalists perform throughout Telluride during the festival, with the winner receiving a gorgeous custom Shanti guitar. ------------------------------------- *** ROCKYGRASS FESTIVAL *** ------------------------------------- The initial lineup for our traditional bluegrass festival, the 41st Annual RockyGrass (July 26-28), welcomes back legendary favorites the Del McCoury Band and the only-at-RockyGrass Sam Bush Bluegrass Band. This year's lineup also brings together numerous exciting new collaborations -- from the creative fusion of Keller Williams with the Travelin' McCourys, to inspired new trios led by Darol Anger, Andy Statman, and David Grier. * Del McCoury Band * Sam Bush Bluegrass Band * * Keller Williams with The Travelin' McCourys * Tim O'Brien * * Blue Highway * Peter Rowan * * Andy Statman Trio featuring Tim O'Brien & Michael Cleveland * * Old-Time Kozmik Trio * The Kruger Brothers * The Steeldrivers * * Head for the Hills * Kathy Kallick Band * Helen Highwater * * Front Country * many more still to be announced... Of particular importance for RockyGrass campers: Meadow Park passes could be sold-out in the next few weeks. Order your RockyGrass tickets and camping right now at http://shop.bluegrass.com. If you're looking for single-day tickets, we'll begin selling those later this winter after the announcement of the single-day lineup. ------------------ *** OTHER NEWS *** ------------------ Planning ahead to spring in Colorado, we're proud to present a very special evening of duets and stories from bluegrass legends Del McCoury & Sam Bush at the historic Boulder Theater on Sunday, March 24. Gold circle, reserved, and general admission tickets are onsale now at http://www.BoulderTheater.com. Thanks for everyone's patience with us as we worked through a frantic December onsale, with ticket demand magnitudes greater than last year's records. Fortunately, tickets and camping are still available for all our 2013 festivals. But please heed our warning that everything continues to sell much faster than ever before. And this includes discount tickets for the Folks Festival (Aug. 16-18) and spaces in The Song School (Aug. 11-15). Watch for a preliminary Folks Festival lineup announcement later this winter. Our offices will be closed for the holidays thru January 2. You'll, of course, still be able to order online at http://shop.bluegrass.com, but we won't be shipping tickets or merchandise until January 3. Thanks for a wonderful year. We can't wait to share many inspiring days together in 2013.
