With entries coming from all 50 U.S. states plus 8 foreign countries, our historic Summer Solstice celebration will gather Festivarians from more parts of the world than ever before. For the lucky lottery winners the pilgrimage to the 40th Telluride has begun. For everyone else, that journey begins next week when all other 2013 festival tickets go onsale... Double-check your calendars right now: Wednesday, December 5. Got it double-highlighted with a glitter pen? At 9am MST we'll begin selling 4-day passes, camping in 3 additional campgrounds, as well as single-day tickets. ------------------------------------ *** TELLURIDE BLUEGRASS FESTIVAL *** ------------------------------------ Wait, single-day tickets? Yes! This year we'll begin selling single-day tickets when 4-day passes go onsale on Wednesday, December 5 at http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. To avoid last year's predicament where demand for single-day tickets forced us into a special ticket lottery, we are making these tickets available from the beginning - well before 4-day passes have sold-out. As with 4-day passes, single-day tickets will be fully refundable if returned by March 22, 2013. We've made several other ticketing changes for 2013. To get tickets into the hands of as many dedicated Festivarians as possible, you'll now be limited to a maximum of 4 tickets of a given type (e.g. 4-day pass, Friday single-day) per order. As well, all Telluride Bluegrass tickets will either be emailed (as PDF attachments containing a barcode) or held at will-call. By upgrading our system to use emailed barcode tickets (as we have done successfully in Lyons for several years), we aim to deter scalpers and avoid incidents of tickets lost in the mail. As always, Planet Bluegrass charges no handling fees on any orders and we're happy to hold your tickets at will-call. For you aspiring pickers, we'll begin accepting entries for the Telluride Band Contest on Wednesday morning over the phone-only -- 800-624-2422. We'll begin accepting submissions for the Telluride Troubadour songwriting contest next week as well, both via SonicBids and postal mail. If you're interested in volunteering for the 40th Telluride Bluegrass in exchange for your 4-day pass, we'd love to hear from you. Telluride applications for new volunteers open on Monday morning, December 3. Applications for our Lyons festivals open after the holidays on Tuesday, January 22. So this Wednesday set your alarm to wake you with Jerry & Bela's "Another Morning," don a festivarian t-shirt, drink your morning beverage from a vintage TBF cup, and begin your historic journey to the 40th Telluride via http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. Oh, and the 40th anniversary lineup... watch for a major announcement on the Winter Solstice, December 21. ------------------------------------- *** ROCKYGRASS FESTIVAL *** ------------------------------------- If the on-site campground is central to your RockyGrass family's tradition, only a few days remain to enter the online lottery for these coveted camping passes. Entries must be received by Sunday night at 11:59pm MST. Or if Meadow Park or Bohn Park is your RockyGrass home, next Thursday is your day. All 3-day passes and camping for the 41st Annual RockyGrass (July 26-28) go onsale at 9am MST on Thursday, December 6 at http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. After processing all the lottery entries for the 2013 RockyGrass Academy (July 21-25), a few spaces are still available in the novice bass class. Those will be made available beginning Thursday morning over the phone-only at 800-624-2422. ------------------ *** OTHER NEWS *** ------------------ We conclude our big ticket week next Friday, December 7, as all 3-day passes and camping for the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (August 16-18), and spaces in The Song School (August 11-15) go onsale at 9am MST at http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. As we trust that dedicated Festivarians will have next week's onsale dates scribbled somewhere in every room in their house, we're planning to be low-key about last-minute reminders next week. Help out your Festivarian family with a gentle nudge on Wednesday / Thursday / Friday. You'll be generously rewarded on a tarp next summer.
