No more low-key reminders. No more easily-ignored pleas to scribble lottery dates on your calendar. The time for summer solstice action is now. Before your curious eyes get immersed in the single-day Telluride lineup (yes, it's below), stop and consider anyone you know who is still looking for tickets to Telluride Bluegrass... Maybe it's a pickin' buddy? Maybe it's the couple that camped next to you last year? Maybe it's you? Send them a reminder to enter the online lottery for single-day tickets right now. http://telluridebluegrass.com/lottery-singleday/ These are the only tickets left for the grand gathering of Festivarian Nation in Telluride; and the lottery closes this Thursday, February 9. Reminder sent? Great. Onto the good stuff... --------------------------- *** TELLURIDE BLUEGRASS *** --------------------------- Just in time for the single-day ticket lottery, yesterday we announced the single-day lineup for the 39th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 21-24)... Thursday, June 21 * Alison Krauss & Union Station featuring Jerry Douglas * * John Prine * Laura Marling * * Thelma & Louise featuring Chris Thile & Bela Fleck * * Greensky Bluegrass * Dan Mangan * Della Mae * Friday, June 22 * John Fogerty * Leftover Salmon * Del McCoury Band * * Bela Fleck & the Marcus Roberts Trio * * Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band * Edgar Meyer & Mike Marshall * * Joy Kills Sorrow * Head for the Hills * Saturday, June 23 * Sam Bush Band * k.d. lang & the Siss Boom Bang * * Bruce Hornsby & the Noisemakers * Yonder Mountain String Band * * Jerry Douglas featuring Omar Hakim & Viktor Krauss * * The Devil Makes Three * Run Boy Run * Sunday, June 24 * Telluride House Band featuring Sam, Bela, Jerry, Edgar, Bryan & Stuart * * Glen Hansard * Punch Brothers * O'Brien Party of Seven * * and several more early-day sets still to be announced... * The legendary John Fogerty (!!) makes his long-awaited Telluride Bluegrass debut on Friday night – filling the box canyon with his remarkable repertoire, iconic voice, gritty guitar, hard rocking band, and incomparable love for performing. Then Saturday, the artist whom Fogerty calls "my favorite musician" – Jerry Douglas – reunites his dobro power trio of drummer Omar Hakim & Viktor Krauss. Bela Fleck & Chris Thile open the festival with a wholly improvised set – in which their only discussion before hitting the stage on Thursday morning is their choice of name: Thelma & Louise. Four years since his unforgettable set with The Swell Season, Glen Hansard returns with his powerful new band on Sunday evening; while one of our favorite voices in modern British folk, Laura Marling, makes her enchanting Telluride debut on Thursday. From contemporary stringband (Joy Kills Sorrow) to jamgrass (Head for the Hills) to post-singer-songwriter band (Dan Mangan) to punky backporch singalongs (The Devil Makes Three) to jawdroppingly virtuosic (Edgar Meyer & Mike Marshall), these latest additions explore the many crags and cornices in the distinctive musical landscape of "Telluride Bluegrass." As we mentioned above, the only remaining tickets (1,500 single-day tix per day) are being sold via an online lottery from February 7-9 – that's today thru Thursday. Read all the lottery rules (1 entry per credit card, 2 tix per day) and submit your entry right now at bluegrass.com. We'll begin processing the lottery this Friday, February 10. Good luck! Camping is still available at Lawson Hill and Mary E. Or if sleeping under the stars isn't your thing, check out our lodging partners in Telluride and Mountain Village, including special early-bird discounts. Though 4-day passes sold-out on December 25, there is still one way to earn a free pass: the Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Contest. We'll choose 10 finalists to perform in Telluride, with 1 Troubadour winning a custom Shanti guitar and a Saturday afternoon set on the main stage. Submit up to 2 songs either online or by mail, thru April 13. We really do hope you'll spread the word about the single-day ticket lottery thru Thursday, February 9 as these are the only tickets remaining for the 39th Telluride Bluegrass. Though the lottery is completely random, our lotterizer might be slightly sensitive to festivarian karma. ------------------------------ *** 40TH ANNUAL ROCKYGRASS *** ------------------------------ In the 3 weeks since we shared the preliminary lineup for the 40th Anniversary RockyGrass (July 27-29), ticket sales have been selling at a record-setting pace. It's now likely that 3-day passes will be gone in less than 2 weeks. That's over a month earlier than ever before. Alert your RockyGrass family and order yours now at http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. Watch for the announcement of the complete RockyGrass single-day lineup next week, along with single-day tickets. But if you're considering 3-day passes, order those now – we can't promise they'll be around much longer. It's continuing to be a year like no other here on Planet Bluegrass. Thanks for helping us navigate these uncharted waters. One thing remains for certain: it's going to be a magical summer of music and we can't wait to share it with you.
