3-day passes and camping are onsale now at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. With the unprecedented ticket rush for Telluride Bluegrass, it shouldn't be surprising that RockyGrass tickets, too, are going at a record pace. Order your 3-ay passes right now. Then watch for the complete single-day lineup and the release of single-day tickets in mid-February.
Along with the festival lineup, check out our latest additions to the faculty of the sold-out RockyGrass Academy (July 22-26), including Peter Rowan, John Reischman, Casey Driessen, John Moore, Tyler Grant, and more.
Once again we're looking for energetic, friendly festivarians to help create festival magic with us as volunteers at RockyGrass. The volunteer application is now available. For your three smile-filled 3.5 hour daily shifts we'll provide you with a 3-day festival pass.
As you've hopefully heard by now, 4-day passes for the 39th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 21-24) sold-out on December 25. Like you, we're still a bit in shock. But lookout for hope: single-day tickets are just around the corner...
Due to the unprecedented demand, we will be selling our allotment of 1,500 single-day tickets via an online lottery – open from February 7 thru 9. Before you click on any links, please scribble those dates all over your calendar. Then scribble them somewhere else as backup. Read up on our rationale for using an online lottery and all the rules. We'll send another reminder prior to the lottery – including most of the single-day lineup (!!). But an email nudge to your festivarian family right now might earn you a hearty hug this June.
For the second consecutive year, one of the most talked-about moments at the Folks Festival was Girlyman's set in the Wildflower – capped by an emotional singalong to an "old spiritual song" with grinning dancers filling every patio outside the Wildflower.
We're excited to welcome Girlyman back to Lyons to open our 2012 Wildflower Concert Series on Friday, March 9. Tickets ($17) are onsale now at 800-624-2422 or shop.bluegrass.com. Their 2011 show sold-out well in advance, so don't wait long to make your plans for an intimate late-winter evening inside the Wildflower Pavilion on Planet Bluegrass in Lyons.
One of our favorite albums of 2011 was the Goat Rodeo Sessions featuring Yo-Yo Ma, Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer, Chris Thile, and special guest vocalist Aoife O'Donovan. The record is an acoustic masterpiece of composition and improvisation – uptown and down home, funky and pastoral. These brilliant musicians will be live cinecasting their first-ever full live performance on Tuesday, January 31 to movie theaters nationwide. They've kindly given us 2 pair of tickets to screenings in Colorado's Front Range along with copies of the CD to give away to lucky festivarians. To enter, check out our recent contest post on the Planet Bluegrass Facebook page. We'll draw the winners on Monday at noon MST. Learn more about The Goat Rodeo Sessions LIVE, including participating movie theaters near you, at www.FathomEvents.com. We hope to see you on Tuesday night.
