[ View this email as a web page: http://www.bluegrass.com/emails/2011/PBEmail-2011-12-16.html ] =================================================================== When we saw a 50% increase in Telluride Town Park lottery entries back in November, we realized 2012 might be a little different... We knew that dedicated festivarians like you had drawn a yin-jo over the onsale date on your calendar months ago, so we intentionally kept a low profile - no lineup announcements, no press releases, no last-minute reminders. We tweaked our webserver to handle more than twice the demand, but still we were stunned by just how many festivarians showed up last Wednesday morning: more than 4-times more than ever before! The discounted holiday tickets for RockyGrass were gone in less than 90 minutes; the holiday tickets for Telluride Bluegrass - which typically sell-out in mid-January - were gone in 2 hours. In less than 10 days we have already sold over 70% of the 4-day passes for Telluride Bluegrass. It's not our goal to sell tickets this quickly; we're far more focused on making sure that dedicated festivarians get the tickets they want. So please heed our warning: tickets and camping for Telluride Bluegrass are going to sell-out much earlier than ever before. At this unprecedented rate we can't predict a sell-out date, but it might be weeks rather than months away. If your reminder note fell out of your mandolin case, order your tickets now. If you reserved lodging for Telluride Bluegrass, get your tickets now. If members of your camp are waiting until after the holidays, give them a nudge right now. Tickets and camping for all our 2012 festivals - including RockyGrass, Rocky Mtn Folks Festival, and The Song School - are available at http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. As always, single-day tickets will be available later this winter once we have announced the single-day lineups. We'll begin announcing the preliminary lineup for the 39th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival on the Winter Solstice – Wednesday, December 21 at bluegrass.com. Watch for preliminary RockyGrass and Folks Festival lineups in January. In the spirit of the season, we've got some tickets to share... Yonder Mountain String Band is playing an epic 5-night New Year's run at the Boulder Theater (Dec. 27-31). Tickets are still available for the first 3 nights, but we have a stack of tickets to give away to lucky festivarians. To enter just post a comment under the Yonder tickets post on Planet Bluegrass's Facebook. And If you missed out on New Year's Eve Yonder tickets, we're also giving away tickets to see G. Love & Special Sauce at the Fox Theatre on December 30 and 31. Tickets are still available for those shows, but as a festivarian you can enter to win by posting a comment under the G. Love tickets post on our Facebook page. We'll choose the winners for both drawings on the Winter Solstice. In the meantime, check out Sam Bush performing "Let It Snow" and a wonderful Bela Fleck solo session from Denver Post's Reverb blog. All of us on Planet Bluegrass wish you a very special holiday season filled with joy, love, and music. Thanks for a magical 2011; we can't wait to share 2012 with you.
