With less than 120 days until Festivarian Nation reunites in Telluride's box canyon, the musical panorama of our 4-day acoustic adventure continues to come into focus...
String music's greatest virtuosos, the Telluride House Band, will cap an evening that now includes Steve Earle & the Dukes and a very special twilight set from Sarah McLachlan. After the King of Telluride Sam Bush delivers his festival centerpiece set on Saturday evening, we'll set the stage for a boisterous late-night throwdown with Old Crow Medicine Show.
And further adding to the magic of the longest days of the year, we'll revel in sets from Abigail Washburn, newcomers The Head & The Heart, and the triumphant return (after 2 of the most extraordinary Telluride Bluegrass sets in recent memory) of Mumford & Sons...
These new additions join a 38th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 16-19) lineup that already included Robert Plant, Emmylou Harris, Béla Fleck & the Original Flecktones, The Decemberists, Yonder Mountain String Band, and so many more of the world's greatest acoustic musicians...

For four days, we'll convene the tarps of Festivarian Nation under the peaks and waterfalls of the San Juan Mountains. Strings will ring out from dawn til...well, dawn. With intimate workshops on the Elks Park stage (in the middle of the historic main street); late-night indoor Nightgrass shows all over Telluride and at the top of the free gondola in Mountain Village; band and songwriting contests; a full schedule of kids activities; jams on every street corner, campground, and condo; and epic set after epic set on the main festival stage carefully curated to complement magical mornings, evening alpenglow, and late-night euphoria.
With numerous lodging and camping options (including: family-friendly, on the valley floor, or down valley along the river) still available, now's the time to take your next step toward the planet's greatest summer solstice celebration. Order your tickets now at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. No pressure, but tickets continue to sell at a record-setting pace. As always, we charge no handling fees on any tickets.
We're still confirming a few more artists to complete the 38th annual roster. Single-day tickets will be available in March with the release of the complete single-day lineups.
In the meantime, check out Mumford & Sons' standout performance from last weekend's Grammy Awards (and the Denver Post's profile on their return to Telluride), read about Steve Earle's brilliant new projects, learn about Abigail Washburn's stunning new album, and watch this classic Sarah McLachlan performance.
For you lucky Song School students (sorry, it sold-out a few weeks ago), be sure to check out the 2011 Song School faculty - including Anaïs Mitchell, Livingston Taylor, Mary Gauthier, Sarah Lee Guthrie, Johnny Irion, and Dr. Ysaye Barnwell. As we warned in our last email, holiday-priced tickets for the Folks Festival (Aug 19-21) are now gone (several weeks earlier than ever), but regularly-priced 3-day passes and camping are still available. (Have you seen the start of the Folks Fest lineup?)
For the latest Festivarian news, be sure to "like" Planet Bluegrass on Facebook. Need another reason to join us on Facebook? Yesterday we gave away a pair of tickets to see the Travelin' McCourys at Swallow Hill in Denver this Sunday night (Feb 20). We'll have more ticket giveaways in the coming weeks exclusively for our Facebook fans.
We hope to see you in less than a month for the opening night of our Spring Wildflower Concert Series on the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons featuring the literate 3-part harmony extravaganza of Girlyman (March 11). Tickets are available now for the entire Spring series, including Greensky Bluegrass, Missy Raines, Elephant Revival, and much more.
RockyGrass Festivarians, hang in there... The announcement of the complete RockyGrass (July 29-31) single-day lineup – and the release of RockyGrass single-day tickets – is just a week or so away. It's going to be another unforgettable Colorado summer. We can't wait to share it with you.
