[ View this email as a web page: http://www.bluegrass.com/emails/2011/PBEmail-2011-01-07.html ] =================================================================== With the Winter Solstice now weeks behind us, the longer evening light is finally noticeable in the snowy western sky. Visions of dancing sugarplums have given way to Telluride tarp dreams of Robert Plant; our holiday CDs have been replaced by Tim O'Brien and the Decemberists; gifts of shiny new strings and picks have begun their preparation for summer solstice jams. As the peace and joy of the December holidays came to end, so also is the end of Telluride Bluegrass holiday tickets drawing near. May this warm greeting find you with tickets for you and yours (enjoying the $30 discount), as these special holiday prices will only be around for a couple more days... --------------------------- *** TELLURIDE BLUEGRASS *** --------------------------- While the unfathomable force of music, mountains, and magic is again pulling Festivarian Nation back to the 38th Telluride Bluegrass (June 16-19), the news of this year's lineup seems to be inspiring a couple extra stacks of ticket envelopes to leave the office with each day's mail. The adventurous virtuosos of the Telluride House Band will be in inspiring company this June... * Robert Plant & Band of Joy * * Telluride House Band featuring Sam, Bela, Jerry, Edgar, Bryan & Stuart * Sam Bush Band * Emmylou Harris * Bela Fleck & the Original Flecktones * Yonder Mountain String Band * The Decemberists * Railroad Earth * Tim O'Brien Band * Edgar Meyer * Punch Brothers * Peter Rowan * Emmitt-Nershi Band * Tim O'Brien & Kevin Burke * The Infamous Stringdusters * Cornmeal * Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper * Trampled by Turtles * Nora Jane Struthers & the Bootleggers * many, many more still to be announced... Just as this year's RockyGrass holiday tickets sold-out in a record-setting 3 hours, it's looking like the Telluride Bluegrass holiday tickets are going to sell-out in just a few more days (eek!). Yes, that's several weeks earlier than ever before. (And yes, as always we charge no service fees and tickets are fully refundable if returned by May 6.) If you miss out on these holiday tickets, fear not: 4-day passes, camping, and lodging will still be available; you just won't enjoy our little holiday gift of a $30 discount. Order now at http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. If you're waiting for single-day tickets, we'll make those available late this winter with the announcement of the complete single-day lineups. Between now and then, we'll have many more names to add to the festival lineup. And the late-night indoor NightGrass shows... And the Elks Park workshops... And the Troubadour finalists... And... Once you have your festival tickets, take a few more minutes to complete your planning for the Telluride pilgrimage. Camping is still available in the town of Telluride (family camping at the High School) as well as the west end of the Valley Floor bike path (Lawson Hill campground) and along the Ilium river (Mary E Ilium). Or for indoor amenities, a variety of lodging options are available in Telluride and Mountain Village with many lodging companies offering early bird discounts. With your plans in place, celebrate by filling your vintage Telluride cup with post-holiday spirit; give a listen to new music from the Decemberists, Trampled By Turtles, or Mumford & Sons; say hello to your fellow festivarians on the Forum or Facebook; and begin the countdown to the 38th Annual festivarian family reunion in Telluride. Your life will be forever changed again this June. --------------------------- *** WILDFLOWER CONCERTS *** --------------------------- We're excited to announce the beginning of the Spring Concert Series in the Wildflower Pavilion on the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons. We kick things off on Friday, March 11 with one of the biggest hits from last year's Folks Festival: Girlyman. The series continues with the transcendental folk of Elephant Revival with special guest Reed Foehl (March 18), and a special evening with one of our favorite singer-songwriters Ellis (April 15). We'll have more concert announcements in the coming weeks. These intimate indoor shows feature New Belgium beer, wine, and hot drinks; a warming bonfire by the river (weather permitting); convenient, free parking at the Ranch; and the crystalline acoustics of the gorgeous Wildflower Pavilion. Tickets are available now at http://shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. For all the latest Wildflower Concert news, make sure you're subscribed to our special Wildflower email newsletter. ------------------ *** OTHER NEWS *** ------------------ Folks festivarians, rest assured: we're busily confirming artists for the 21st Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (August 19-21). Watch for a preliminary lineup announcement in the next couple weeks - it'll be well worth the wait. Early-bird Folks tickets are still available (including on-site camping), but they're selling faster than ever. If you're considering spending a week of songwriting craft and inspiration with us at The Song School (August 14-18), plan to make your reservations very soon. We'll be sold-out much earlier than ever before. All of us at Planet Bluegrass wish you and your festivarian family a happy New Year. We can't wait to share some magical moments with you in 2011.
