We're in awe of great singers - their gift for expressing honest emotions, their power to fill an entire valley with unfiltered passion. In that spirit, we're proud to welcome four of our favorite singers to the 35th Telluride Bluegrass Festival lineup:
The greatest high, lonesome voice in traditional bluegrass Del McCoury; the king of country soul (and a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame) Solomon Burke; one of the sweetest voices in alt-country Tift Merritt; and the soulful Scottish singer/songwriter and international superstar Paolo Nutini.
And... uniquely capturing the voice of the Festivarian nation and our unified cry of "Fessssstivaaaaaal," we are thrilled to welcome back to the Telluride Bluegrass stage the poly-ethnnic Cajun slam-grass of Leftover Salmon.
These latest additions join Ani DiFranco, Hornsby & Skaggs, Sam Bush, Béla Fleck, Brett Dennen, Yonder Mountain String Band, Tim O'Brien, and many others under the full moon summer solstice in Telluride, June 19-22. Holiday-priced tickets sold-out early, but we still have lots of 4-day passes and camping at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. Lodging is still available in Telluride and nearby Mountain Village, but now is definitely the time to start making your reservations.
If you're chasing a couple of the coveted Town Park or Warner Field camping passes, we will be releasing any returned tickets on our website - shop.bluegrass.com - every Tuesday at noon MST. We expect to have more returned tickets available in the spring, but this past Tuesday we had a stack of on-site camping passes for RockyGrass for sale. So you never know...
When you get a minute, stop by and check out our new bluegrass.com. It's completely redesigned with lots of new photos - including photo albums from last year's Telluride and RockyGrass festivals. Share your comments - good or bad- with us at email@example.com.
"Ambient zen Americana." That's how Mojo Magazine describes Great Lake Swimmers to which we might add "seductively atmospheric." We're excited to add this gorgeous Canadian quartet to the lineup for the 18th Annual Rocky Mountain Folks Festival (Aug. 15-17). They join Greg Brown, The Waifs, Todd Snider, Tim O'Brien, and many, many more still to be announced performers for our summit of the song at the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons. Holiday-priced 3-day passes and on-site camping are still available - while they last - at 800-624-2422 or shop.bluegrass.com.
Spaces are selling quickly for the week of inspiration and craft at The Song School (Aug. 10-14). Paul Reisler, Julie Portman, and Amy Speace are the latest additions to the list of instructors for this life-changing week along the wooded banks of the St. Vrain River in Lyons.
While you're scheduling some time off for The Song School, consider entering one of our nationally-recognized songwriting contests. We are now accepting submissions for both the Telluride Troubadour and the Folks Showcase.
For bluegrass pickers and purists, RockyGrass (July 25-27) is mid-summer's salvation. We still have lots of tickets and camping, but as with the past few years: we don't expect to have many left in May - especially a weekend that includes the Dan Tyminski Band, Natalie MacMaster, Sparrow Quartet, Sam Bush, JD Crowe, Psychograss, and many many others.
As for single-day tickets for all our festivals, we won't be selling those until we have full single-day festival lineups - sometime later this winter. Thanks for your patience and watch our future newsletters for all the details.
Finally, if the feet of snow outside your window are making summer feel like another lifetime, grab a Telluride Bluegrass fleece scarf and connect with your festivarian family at festivarian.com. The discussion of favorite Telluride memories is guaranteed to warm you up on a cold winter's day.
