Greetings Festivarians,

Maybe your winter to-do list looks something ours: hit the slopes an hour earlier on the next powder day, replace your last few incandescent lightbulbs with compact fluorescents, write a final verse to the song you started last summer, purchase tickets for the 35th Telluride Bluegrass before the holiday price ends...

Cadillac Sky lands in Telluride 2008Well it's time to spring into action. Our limited supply of holiday-priced tickets for Telluride Bluegrass - a $30 discount from the regular price - is about to run out. We expect these tickets to be gone by the end of this weekend, if not earlier.

If that's too soon for you, don't worry. We have lots more tickets for the summer solstice in Telluride. But they'll cost more - the price of a couple CDs, a couple nice reusable water bottles, or a couple sets of guitar strings.

We're excited to announce several more additions to the Telluride Bluegrass lineup... After the triumphant farewell of Nickel Creek at last July's RockyGrass, Chris Thile returns with his new progressive bluegrass band, the Punch Brothers. The g'Earls of Uncle Earl bring their gorgeously infectious fiddle-driven old-time music (and kung fu dancing) to Telluride.

Uncle Earl plays Telluride 2008Two longtime Telluride favorites Drew Emmitt (of Leftover Salmon) and Billy Nershi (of String Cheese Incident) unleash their new collaboration the Emmitt Nershi Band. After taking last year's RockyGrass stage dressed in space suits, Cadillac Sky lands on the big stage in June. Stay tuned - we'll have many many more names to announce in the coming month.

Lots of camping and lodging options are still available to spend June howling at the moon in Telluride. Gather your festivarian family and make your plans now for the historic 35th - shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. And don't forget, tickets are completely refundable until May 9.

Elks Park at Telluride BluegrassHoliday-priced tickets for RockyGrass (July 25-27) sold-out in late December - a full two weeks earlier than last year - but this same $30 discount for Folks Fest (Aug. 15-17) tickets continues. Reserve an entire week in August for inspiration, craft, and support along the St. Vrain River at the Song School (Aug 10-14).

Need something to keep you extra warm on the road to Telluride's 35th this winter? The new line of Festivarian gear might be just what you're looking for - scarves, fleece hoodies, and more at the Festivarian Mercantile.

When you visit bluegrass.com to get your holiday-priced tickets, be sure to say a fond farewell to our current website. We're just a couple days away from launching a new look for the 2008 festival season.

Weddings at Planet Bluegrass (photo: Beth Photography)Every year we hear about Festivarian romance - couples that met at the Folks Festival or are spending their honeymoon at Telluride Bluegrass. If you're looking for a special place for your wedding this summer, the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons is available for wedding rentals, including the beautiful new Wildflower Pavilion.

Finally, the non-profit Colorado Bluegrass Music Society (the original founders of the Rocky Mountain Bluegrass Festival a.k.a. RockyGrass) are presenting a series of shows this winter at the Broomfield Auditorium in Broomfield, Colorado. The Thursday night series begins with last year's Telluride and RockyGrass band contest winners Spring Creek with special guests the Lonesome Traveler Bluegrass Band. We'll see you there.

Best,
The folks at Planet Bluegrass
