With Adam Aijala and Ben Kaufmann providing the festive soundtrack for the Autumnal Equinox and Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers leading the energetic celebration of the season's first Harvest Moon, the summer of 2007 is now officially but a beautiful memory. But for three more magical nights, the music continues indoors in the new Wildflower Pavilion on the Planet Bluegrass Ranch in Lyons, CO.
Tomorrow night (Oct. 3) we welcome the deep, emotional songwriter Mindy Smith. A beloved headliner on the Friday night of the 2006 Folks Festival, Mindy's poignant and personal songs will fill the intimate sanctuary of song with melody, lyric, and soul. Doors open at 7pm, special guest Michael McDermott goes on at 8pm, and tickets are still available online at shop.bluegrass.com, over the phone 800-624-2422, or at the door on the night of the show.
Next week we welcome six-piece bluegrass powerhouse Mountain Heart to the Wildflower on Wednesday, October 10. Veterans of the Telluride Bluegrass and RockyGrass stages, Mountain Heart features five-time IBMA mandolin player of the year (and former member of Alison Krauss & Union Station) Adam Steffey. Chops, precision, and power. And bluegrass heart in abundance. Tickets are still available.
We close our inaugural season on Oct. 20 with one of our all-time favorite performers, the wildly eclectic Michelle Shocked. She is currently celebrating the release of her 2003 Telluride Bluegrass gospel set as the acclaimed live album, ToHeavenURide. Tickets for her season-ending show are still available. But don't wait too long.
Come see and hear why performers and Festivarians alike are calling this the best new listening room on Colorado's Front Range. Enjoy Autumn on the Ranch with intimate indoor performances and after-show camaraderie around the bonfire. Tickets for all three shows are available at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. Parking is free on the Ranch and we'll have drinks - coffee, hot chocolate, wine, and Oskar Blues beer - available all night (cash only).
Thanks everyone who took the time to share your thoughts in our festival surveys. Congratulations to three lucky Festivarians: Lou Ann Cornelison of Arizona and Coloradoans Jim Baker and Thad Walton. They were randomly selected to win pairs of tickets to next year's Festivals.
If you weren't one of those lucky Festivarians, mark your calendars now for our 2008 lottery dates. In order to make the ordering of our most popular tickets as fair and simple as possible, we will again be using an online lottery system for Town Park camping at the 35th Annual Telluride Bluegrass Festival (June 19-22), RockyGrass Academy (July 20-24), and on-site camping at RockyGrass (July 25-27).
We will be accepting entries for these three ticket lotteries at bluegrass.com during the following dates - scribble these all over your calendar:
Lots more details about the 2008 lotteries will be posted next week at bluegrass.com. For now, just cast a quick smile toward next summer - mark up that calendar, start gathering your Festivarian family, and begin dreaming of the 2008 festival season - including the 35th Anniversary of the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Magic to the ears.
