An evening of uplifting songs and virtuosic musicianship... [ Wildflower image ]

Jayme StoneTickets are still available for an uplifting evening of songs and virtuosity featuring Jayme Stone & Friends with special guests The Deer this Friday, April 14 in Lyons.

Many Festivarians first met banjo player Jayme Stone when his Lomax Project -- featuring pals Tim O'Brien, Bruce Molsky, and Margaret Glaspy -- charmed the 2013 RockyGrass. For a decade Jayme has been exploring diverse musical interests -- from jazz-classical chamber music to duets with African kora -- earning him accolades like "the Yo-Yo Ma of the banjo" (Globe & Mail). Jayme's must-hear new project, Folklife, reimagines songs from historic field recordings of Sea Island spirituals, Creole calypsos, and stomp-down Appalachian dance tunes. This Friday Jayme is joined by Colorado friends Natalie Tate (vocals, guitar, wurlitzer), Tom Gershwin (trumpet), Jean-Luc Davis (bass), Kevin Mathews (drums) for an inspiring set of uplifting rhythms, sublime vocals, and virtuosic musicianship.

The DeerDescribed as transcendental Texas folk and stargaze surf-western, The Deer encompasses the innovation of the modern indie-folk revival and the cross-pollination of Austin's diverse music scene. Led by vocalist Grace Park and her collaborators (including members of RockyGrass and Wildflower veterans MilkDrive) The Deer move fluidly between the blissful and euphoric to the dark and the dangerous. The Deer take the Wildflower stage at 8pm on Friday night.

Tickets for this Friday night -- and the final 2 shows in our spring Wildflower Concert Series -- are on sale now (with no service fees, of course) at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422. We'll light the bonfire along the river and open the indoor Wildflower bar (beer, wine, and hot drinks) at 7pm.
