The sun is finally poking through in Lyons and the warming forecast calls for highs near 50 tomorrow... All the makings of a perfect Friday evening of bonfire and boogie in our heated indoor Wildflower Pavilion, as we make plenty of room for dancing to Mountain Standard Time and Gipsy Moon.
Celebrate Spring's return in our town of Lyons -- just 20 minutes north of Boulder. Grab dinner at one of our restaurants (sushi, contemporary, Mexican, Nepalese, BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Play a few games of classic pinball. Then head over to Planet Bluegrass for the bonfire and drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks). Doors open at 7pm and Gipsy Moon takes the indoor stage right at 8pm. We look forward to sharing some grooves with you this Friday night in Lyons.
Led by the powerful twin acoustic leads of guitar and mandolin, Mountain Standard Time boasts a big, full-band sound with keyboards, electric bass, and drums. The bluegrass-fusion quintet has followed in the footsteps of SCI and Leftover Salmon, headlining festivals across the country including Wakarusa and 10,000 Lakes. Longtime veterans of the Front Range scene, the Daily Camera says their "current lineup has the band ticking with new energy."
The festivities start at 8pm as Gipsy Moon -- fronted by sons of Leftover Salmon's Vince Herman -- make their gypsy-grass Planet Bluegrass debut with a sound that melds a backwoods hoedown with the basement of a New York jazz club.
Tickets are still available (with no service fees, of course) at shop.bluegrass.com, 800-624-2422, or in-person at The Stone Cup in Lyons.
Our series of intimate shows in the indoor Wildflower Pavilion finishes next weekend with a special CD release party from Danny Shafer and Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys on Friday (April 26), followed by a virtuosic evening of dobro and guitar duets with IBMA instrumentalists of the year Rob Ickes & Jim Hurst on Saturday (April 27).
