After two high-energy bluegrass shows, we're quieting things down this Friday (April 12) for an intimate evening of songs and stories with the wondrous and inventive 3-time Folks Festival favorite Peter Mayer and special guest Bella Betts.
Join us for a whole evening in our hometown of Lyons -- just 20 minutes north of Boulder. Grab dinner at one of our restaurants (sushi, contemporary, Mexican, Nepalese, BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Play a few games of classic pinball. Then walk over to Planet Bluegrass for the bonfire and drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks). The Pavilion doors open at 7pm and Bella Betts and Steve Szymanski take the stage right at 8pm. We look forward to sharing another lovely Spring night with you in Lyons.
Acoustic Guitar Magazine writes: "Peter Mayer's songs are crafted like shaker furniture, with no place for superfluous embellishments or throwaway lines... This is music for the soul." For nearly two decades (and 9 albums), the Minnesota-based songwriter has sung about the beauty and mysteries of the world -- chronicling the interconnectedness of our human journey through inventive guitar playing and profoundly crafted yet often whimsical lyrics.
Friday's music begins right at 8pm with young mandolin and songwriting phenom Bella Betts (with multi-instrumentalist Steve Szymanski). A featured main stage guest with Amos Lee at last summer's Folks Festival, the 12-year-old has already collaborated with Chris Thile, Langhorne Slim, and Aoife O'Donovan. Bella will be celebrating the recent release of her fan-funded debut CD.
Tickets are still available (with no service fees, of course) at shop.bluegrass.com, 800-624-2422, or in-person at The Stone Cup in Lyons.
