"If you're not moving while the 'Benders are playing, there's something wrong..." After a full-house for last weekend's opening celebration, this Friday we're excited to welcome one of the stand-out hits of last summer's RockyGrass: The Hillbenders.
Join us for a full evening in our hometown of Lyons – just 20 minutes north of Boulder. Grab dinner at one of our restaurants (sushi, contemporary, Mexican, Nepalese, BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Play a few games of classic pinball. Then walk over to Planet Bluegrass for the bonfire and drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks). The Pavilion doors open at 7pm and Finnders & Youngberg take the stage right at 8pm. We're excited to share another lovely Spring evening with you!
Winners of the 2009 Telluride Bluegrass Festival band contest, AcoustiCana Journal calls The Hillbenders "undeniably one of the most exciting young bands on the bluegrass acoustic roots scene." The charismatic Missouri quintet balances sophisticated, infectious arrangements with a passion for connecting with an audience. While their lively, high-energy stage show has been featured at festivals across the country (and their Compass Records debut has reached #3 on national bluegrass radio charts), this Wildflower Concert will be one of their first non-festival concerts on Colorado's Front Range.
We open the evening with an emotionally rich set from Finnders & Youngberg. Led by a 2-time winner of the Merlefest Songwriting Contest, and past winners of both the Telluride and RockyGrass band contests, the acclaimed Colorado quintet delivers classic bluegrass, tried-and-true honky tonk, country swing, and skillfully spun folk tales ranging from heartbreakers to glass raisers.
Tickets are still available (with no service fees, of course) at shop.bluegrass.com, 800-624-2422, or in-person at The Stone Cup in Lyons.
