This Friday night, March 29, we welcome Colorado quintet Whitewater Ramble to the Wildflower Pavilion in Lyons to celebrate the release of their latest CD.
Plan to spend a full evening in our hometown of Lyons – just 20 minutes north of Boulder. Enjoy one of our great restaurants (sushi, contemporary, Mexican, Nepalese, BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Play a few games of classic pinball. Then walk over to Planet Bluegrass for drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks). The Pavilion doors open at 7pm and Caravan of Thieves lights up the stage right at 8. We're excited to share this raucous Spring evening with you!
With over 800 live shows under their belt, Whitewater Ramble combines bluegrass instrumentation with a boundary-less approach to grassing-up everything from disco house grooves to rootsy Americana. Their genre-bending new CD, produced by Railroad Earth's Tim Carbone, opens with U2's "One Tree Hill" and weaves its way through bluegrass throwdowns, reggae rhythms, intricate instrumental passages, lyrical short stories, and rushes of dance-inducing jams (free album stream).
We kick-off the evening at 8pm with the gypsy-swinging fire-breathing circus-theater of Caravan of Thieves. If Django Reinhardt, the cast of Stomp, and The Beatles all had a party at Tim Burton's loft, this Connecticut-based quartet would be the house band.
This promises to be a wild opening night party on Planet Bluegrass, with plenty of room for dancing. Tickets are still available (with no service fees, of course) at shop.bluegrass.com, 800-624-2422, or in-person at The Stone Cup in Lyons.
