This Friday night (Nov. 2) we'll be making room for dancing in the Wildflower as we celebrate our final musical evening of 2012 on Planet Bluegrass with the party-inducing new-timey stringband Pert Near Sandstone...
A favorite band of fellow Minnesotans Trampled by Turtles, Pert Near's foot-stomping energy (led by clogger Andy Lambert) and beautifully twisted take on old-time music has been whipping audiences into a frenzy for more than 7 years and 5 albums – including their latest Paradise Hop (free album stream). Garrison Keillor hand-picked the acoustic quintet to appear as the featured musical guest on A Prairie Home Companion, proclaiming them "on the verge of stardom, on the verge of fame and fortune." Last year the band's fiery acoustic version of "I Am the Walrus" was inducted into Minnesota Public Radio's Chart Show Hall of Fame.
We'll kick off this season finale Friday night at 8pm with RockyGrass band contest finalists Trout Steak Revival, a bluegrass-inspired quintet that Mountain Gazette says "makes [you] want to drive around Colorado with the windows down."
Tickets are still available for this Friday's show (with no service fees, of course) at shop.bluegrass.com, 800-624-2422, or in-person at The Stone Cup in Lyons.
Plan to spend a full evening in our wonderful town of Lyons. Enjoy one of our great restaurants (sushi, contemporary, Nepalese, BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Then walk over to Planet Bluegrass for the bonfire and drinks at the Wildflower bar (including New Belgium Beer). The Pavilion doors open at 7pm and Trout Steak Revival takes the stage at 8. We can't wait to share one last musical evening with you here on Planet Bluegrass in Lyons. |
