Tickets are still available for this Friday's Wildflower Concert (Oct. 26) featuring singer-songwriter Abigail Washburn...
No stranger to Planet Bluegrass, Abigail has performed as a member of Uncle Earl, with her own Sparrow Quartet, and in a stunning duet set alongside Bela Fleck on the Folks Festival stage. Boston Globe calls Abigail's groundbreaking 2011 album City of Refuge "a modern classic" while the Wall Street Journal says it "echoes with thoughtfulness, charm and joy." On Friday evening, Abby's virtuosic clawhammer banjo and soulful voice will be joined by multi-instrumentalist Kai Welch for an intimate set of duets that "mingle Appalachia and folk-pop, with tinges of Asia and Bruce Springsteen" (New York Times).
Be sure to arrive at 8pm for the Planet Bluegrass debut of the Seattle-based new-old time duet of Cahalen Morrison & Eli West. Tim O'Brien says their duo "suggests the infinite possibilities in sound, texture, and mood contained in a pair of voices and a couple stringed instruments... sly, brand new, and yet somehow ancient." Stream Cahalen & Eli's fantastic new album and we're certain you'll agree.
Order your tickets for this Friday's show (with no service fees, of course) at shop.bluegrass.com, 800-624-2422, or in-person at The Stone Cup in Lyons.
Plan to spend a full evening in our wonderful town of Lyons. Enjoy one of our great restaurants (sushi, contemporary, Nepalese, BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Then walk over to Planet Bluegrass for the bonfire and drinks at the Wildflower bar (including New Belgium Beer). The Pavilion doors open at 7pm and music starts at 8. We can't wait to share these last 2 special autumnal evenings with you here on Planet Bluegrass in Lyons. |
