For the 6th consecutive year we've invited two of our favorite musicians, Adam Aijala & Ben Kaufmann, from one of our favorite bands, Yonder Mountain String Band, to help us celebrate the official last day of summer – this Saturday, September 22.
These Mabon Celebrations have become legendary – even Sunset Magazine highlighted this year's Celebration! – as Adam and Ben dig deep into their vast chests of songs (from Yonder rarities to cover surprises) and instruments (banjos, mandolins, keyboards, guitars) for 2 expansive sets of acoustic music. Check out a few videos from recent Mabons or stream two tracks from Ben's personal archive – including a set of Irish tunes learned from Lunasa.
Plan to spend the whole summery Saturday afternoon on Planet Bluegrass for a day that ListenUpDenver calls "one of the most beautiful events I have ever taken part in." The Ranch gates open at 2pm to setup your camp; partake in Mabon revelry; and share in Mabon feasting including: gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches, fresh-cut french fries, garlic knots, and homemade soups. All day we'll be serving wines and New Belgium beers. Then at 7pm we open the Wildflower doors, with Ben & Adam taking the stage at 8pm.
Tickets and camping are available right now at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422 (with no service fees, of course). We expect to have tickets available Saturday at the gate, but check bluegrass.com for the latest availability.
While the Mabon Celebration is our last September show, plan to join us again in mid-October for 4 more Wildflower evenings, including songwriting legend Jesse Winchester (covered by Lyle Lovett at this year's Folks Fest). It's certain to be a magical autumn of music on Planet Bluegrass. We can't wait to share it with you. |
