This Sunday evening (September 9) we open our 2012 fall concert series with 2 favorites from recent RockyGrass and Folks Festivals...
Plan to spend a full evening in our wonderful town of Lyons. Enjoy one of our great restaurants (sushi, contemporary, Mexican, Nepalese, BBQ, pizza, brewpub, and more). Play a few games of classic pinball. Then walk over to Planet Bluegrass for drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks). The Pavilion doors open at 6pm this Sunday night and music starts at 7. We can't wait to see you back in the Wildflower Pavilion.
Virtuosic young mandolinist / singer / songwriter Sierra Hull has been called a "prodigious talent" (New York Times) and "a beautiful and talented gift to this world" (Dolly Parton). Though just 20 years old, Sierra has already performed at Carnegie Hall, the Grand Ole Opry, and The White House (with her mentor Alison Krauss); released 2 albums on Rounder Records, both debuting in the top 5 of Billboard's Top Bluegrass Albums chart (including last year's wonderful Daybreak); and received 5 IBMA nominations including "mandolin player of the year."
Sierra and her band Highway 111 are joined in the Wildflower Pavilion this Sunday by the soaring voices and transcendent harmonies of Anne & Pete Sibley. Winners of A Prairie Home Companion's "Great American Duet Sing-Off," Anne & Pete nearly sold-out the Wildflower Pavilion on their own in May 2010.
Tickets ($20 advance) are still available to spend a sweet late-summer evening on Planet Bluegrass in Lyons. Order yours now at shop.bluegrass.com, over the phone at 303-823-0848, or at the door on Sunday night. Please note: Sunday's show begins an hour earlier than usual - doors open at 6pm, Anne & Pete take the stage at 7pm.
