With an unforgettable sold-out festival season now behind us, it's time to look toward golden aspens, bonfires, and the intimacy of the Wildflower Concert Series in Lyons... We begin our Autumn 2011 season next Friday (Sept 9) with a historic celebration of the 100th Birthday of Bill Monroe - without whom neither bluegrass music nor RockyGrass nor Planet Bluegrass would exist.
We've invited a number of our favorite Colorado bands to celebrate the life and music of the father of bluegrass, including Long Road Home, Blue Canyon Boys, Pete & Joan Wernick, Mountain Holler, The Stanleytones, and The Jaspers. Proceeds from this very special evening benefit the Colorado Bluegrass Music Society's "bluegrass in the schools" program. Tickets ($15) are available now at shop.bluegrass.com or 800-624-2422.
Then the following weekend (Sept 17), plan to join us for the final summer weekend on Planet Bluegrass at the 5th Annual Mabon Concert. We're opening the gates at 2pm for an afternoon of Mabon revelry, hearty drink and food, bonfire, camping, and 2 intimate sets from 2 of our favorite musicians – Adam Aijala & Ben Kaufmann from Yonder Mountain String Band – to celebrate the Autumnal Equinox. Tickets ($30) and camping ($10) are available now.
The Wildflower Concert Series continues in October with an evening of Celtic virtuosity from the band widely proclaimed as the most popular, influential, and exciting Celtic band to ever emerge from the United States – Solas (!!) – on October 7. And more still to be announced...
Spend the full evening in our wonderful little town of Lyons. Enjoy one of our great restaurants (sushi, pizza, tapas, Mexican, brewpub, BBQ, and more). Play a few games of classic pinball. Then walk over to Planet Bluegrass to grab drinks at the Wildflower bar (New Belgium Beer, wine, and hot drinks). We can't wait to see you this fall in the Wildflower.
