When the feisty singer-songwriter Michelle Shocked last joined us in the Wildflower Pavilion (October 2007), she walked out onto the Wildflower stage to a packed audience and a town-wide power outage. With no lights and no microphones, Michelle began her set singing "This Little Light of Mine" through the crowd by candlelight. If you were there, you're probably still talking about it. It was one of the most powerful performances we've ever seen in the Wildflower.
Tomorrow night (Thursday, April 16), Michelle returns with a passionate new set of songs - about love and about anger. Download a free MP3 from her upcoming Soul of My Soul album; stream 3 more new songs at her myspace; and check out this week's Boulder Weekly for an interview with Michelle about the early years of her wildly diverse musical career.
Advance tickets are still available - $20 at shop.bluegrass.com or 303-823-0848. We'll also have tickets at the door beginning at 7pm - cash-only. As always, we charge no handling fees on any tickets.
Ignore the weather forecast - the Wildflower Pavilion is warm, cozy, and completely enclosed from the outside. We'll be serving beer, wine, sparkling juices, hot drinks, and popcorn all night. Doors open at 7pm; Michelle goes on at 8pm; and free parking is available right on the Planet Bluegrass Ranch (here's a map).
